This unit is part of the Salesforce Quick Start path.
If you haven't already done so, we recommend starting with Introduction: Salesforce quick start first before you go any further.
In this unit we'll cover how to access your Pendula tenant from within your Salesforce environment and connect Pendula back to your data source.
Pendula integrates to Salesforce using a process called OAuth 2.0, which is a commonly used method for securely connecting web platforms together. See How to connect Pendula to your Salesforce environment for more information.
How to access your Pendula tenant
Login to your Salesforce environment
Navigate to the Pendula app via the Salesforce app launcher
Click on the Launch Pendula tab in the top navigation bar of the Pendula app. This will prompt a new tab within your browser to open with the login portal to your Pendula tenant.
Note: If the new tab does not open, you may need to allow popups within your browser first.
Enter the login details provided to you for your Pendula tenant
Click Log in
Once you have successfully signed in, the Flows tab will load by default.
This is where you will be able to view your active and inactive flows.
Before you can configure anything however, you'll firstly need to navigate to Pendula Settings setup your integration to Salesforce.
How to navigate to Pendula settings
Click on the avatar icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
The Pendula settings screen manages basic settings for your Pendula tenant, in addition to how it integrates to other data sources. See Tenant settings for more information.
How to connect Pendula to Salesforce
Within the Pendula settings screen, click on (or scroll down to) the Salesforce integration section
From the Salesforce instance dropdown, select either
Sandbox(depending on the type of environment you'll be connecting Pendula to) and then click on Connect to Salesforce
In a new browser window, you'll be prompted to enter the username and password of the Salesforce user you are authorising to connect Pendula to Salesforce
Enter the relevant login details for this user and click on Login
Complete the OAuth process by clicking on Allow from the Allow Access? screen
Your Pendula tenant is now connected to your Salesforce environment!
You should now see a green confirmation message within your Pendula tenant, and an Authorised connection to... message underneath the Salesforce Integration section.
See How to connect Pendula to your Salesforce environment for more information including considerations regarding which user to nominate during the OAuth process.
Now that Pendula is connected to Salesforce, you can start establishing which objects within your data source Pendula should reference in order to send SMS or email to the correct recipients.
If continuing to the next unit, you can stay within the Pendula settings screen.
The next unit in this quick start path is Step 2. Point Pendula to your recipients.
